Arrest made in Laswell burglary

According to reports from the Portsmouth Police Department, with the assistance of the New Boston Police Department, as well as a Walmart employee, Portsmouth police have arrested Eric M. Brown on multiple charges pertaining to the home burglary of 72-year old Louise Lasswell, which occurred Sunday, June 8, 2014.

On June 8, between the hours of 6:30 and 8 a.m. Lasswell’s home was burglarized, in which a purse, checkbook, TV, computer, debit card, among other items, were stolen from the victim’s home, as well as her 2003 Pontiac Vibe that was later recovered on Mabert Road.

Portsmouth police launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of Eric M. Brown. He was transported to the Scioto County Jail. His arraignment is set for Monday, June 16, 2014, at 9 a.m. in Portsmouth Municipal Court. If convicted on all counts, the charges combined carry a penalty of up to 15 years in prison, and a fine of up to $30,000.

Authorities said the Lasswell burglary is still under investigation, as well as other crimes that Brown has allegedly committed. The Portsmouth Police Department is requesting that anyone with information regarding any crimes that Brown may have committed should contact the Portsmouth Police Detective Division at 740-354-1600.
