A crash on Scioto Trail (U.S. 23) in Portsmouth has claimed the life of a motorcyclist. Jeffrey Bentley, 49, of Portsmouth, died as the result of injuries he sustained in that crash.
The Portsmouth Police Department said around 5:52 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the scene of an injury crash at the intersection of Scioto Trail and 28th Street. Officers investigating at the scene reported that a motorcycle, being operated by Bentley, was traveling northbound on U.S. 23 when a car which had been traveling south on U.S. 23 turned left at the 28th Street intersection and the motorcycle struck the car in the right side.
The car was being operated by Sangitaben Patel of Portsmouth. Both Bentley and a passenger in Patel’s car, Pushpaben Patel, were transported by ambulance to Southern Ohio Medical Center. Officers were later notified that Bentley had died at SOMC.
Portsmouth Police Captain Jerry Leach said the crash remains under investigation.
