Thanks to a tip from a citizen in the Ashland, Ky., area, a sex offender sought by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office has been taken into custody.

Jonathon Brown, 20, whose last known address was Winchester Avenue in Sciotoville, was arrested around 6 p.m. on Wednesday by the Ashland Police Department. Brown now faces extradition to Ohio. The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office will extradite Brown after his hearing process in the Ashland court system.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said he appreciated the citizen who called the tip into the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and also to the media for assisting with getting the information out to the pubic. Donini also thanked the Ashland Police Department for their quick response and apprehension.

Brown is wanted on a third-degree felony charge of failure to change address. Captain David Hall of the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office said Brown had moved to Scioto County from Clinton County and within the first two weeks had moved to several different locations.

He was convicted in 2007 for gross sexual imposition.
