South Point man stabbed by wife, dies

Officials with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s office are investigating the stabbing death of a South Point man. According to authorities, the incident occurred as a result of a domestic dispute at about 6:25 p.m. Thursday night.

Officers are reporting that Jason L. Ellis, 36, of Township Road 1019, in South Point, was at his residence with his wife and two children when an argument ensued between Ellis and his unidentified wife which escalated into a fight. At one point in the argument, authorities reported that a struggle broke out between the two and the wife obtained a knife and stabbed Ellis in the neck area.

After the stabbing the two then drove to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., where Ellis was pronounced dead by hospital staff shortly after arrival.

Officers with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office were informed of the incident from Huntington Police Department. According to Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless, Ellis’s body is in the care of the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston W.Va., where an autopsy will be preformed.

The investigation is ongoing with no charges filed. No further information was available as of Friday morning.
