Hope Adkins started working for The Portsmouth Daily Times five years ago as an sales representative. Today she is the head of the sales/advertising department. Adkins was promoted by Civitas Media to the position of Local Business Development Manager of The Portsmouth Daily Times and The Community Common in September 2013.

She said she enjoys her work immensely, and is always looking to expand.

“I work for a rewarding company that is dedicated to meet the needs of its readers. I currently have a team of nine, with two open positions. We are always looking to build our teams,” Adkins said.

Adkins is a native of Minford, and mother of three — an 18-year-old daughter Treyci, who is enrolled in Bradford School in Gahanna. She has a 17-year-old son named Tyler, who is a senior at Minford High School, and a 6-year-old daughter who is a third grader at Minford Elementary School. She is a member of Minford Community Church, which she said has strengthened her faith, and empowered her to progress in her career.

Adkins also attributes her success in advertising to the strong relationships that she established as sales representative.

“I went through the community and built relationships with local business owners, introducing new products. As the newspaper industry changes, business owners constantly new campaigns, innovative ways to promote their businesses,” she said.

Adkins said she is confident about the array of services that Civitas Media offers to businesses.

“We offer niche products, such as online advertising, community directories, bridal magazines, quarterly tabs, different things that we build to accommodate them for every-day lifestyle changes here in Southern Ohio,” she said.

She said websites and social media for businesses is a venue that the advertising specialize in.

“We can work with them to set up websites if they don’t currently have one. We do search engine optimization, to help drive people to their websites. We also build Facebook pages, and assist our businesses with contests on their Facebook pages, which helps them to optimize and learn more about their customers,” Adkins said.

She said that she and her sales team are driven by the desire to be successful.

“What drives the sales teams is to be successful in those advertising campaigns and to help create business for their clients,” Adkins said.

She said her primary goal in her new position is to be the number one source in advertising in the local area.

“Our goal is to be the number one source in the media advertising for our local businesses. We want to educate them on what products are available for them, and help them design that campaign. We endeavor to be the best at what we do,” she said.
