The change in the calendar also brought the first Associated Press Ohio high school basketball polls of the season as both the boys and girls lists were released Monday evening.

Locally, Oak Hill and Peebles make appearances in both the boys and girls polls. The Oaks begin with the girls ranked second in Division III while the boys are tied for 18th in Division III.

The Indians, which dropped to Division IV in both sports, are closer together. The boys are eighth while their female counterparts are 10th.

The Southeast District also placed eight more teams in the polls. On the girls side, Athens (eighth) and Jackson (tied for 11th) are in Division II, South Point (14th) and Fairland (15th) make their way onto the Division III poll while the Division IV list is populated by Reedsville Eastern (seventh) and Ironton St. Joseph (tied for 15th).

The last boys teams from the district are Logan Elm and Zane Trace. The Braves are 11th in Division II and the Pioneers are seventh in Division III.

The four teams who open up the boys poll on the top of the four divisions are Lakewood St. Edward, Cleveland Central Catholic, Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph and Maria Stein Marion Local. For the girls, the same honors go to Mason, Clyde, Columbus Africentric and Marion Local.
