Santa Claus did not come in a sled with reindeer, but he was seated next to a colorful helicopter for a visit with children at the Air Evac Lifeteam Base 97 Saturday.
Rachael Carter, RN and BCL at Base 97 said the event was about sharing with the community.
“We are having a Santa Day. We have invited everyone in the public to come down and have their picture taken with Santa. Later today we will be having our Christmas party. It was generally for our Base, our annual Christmas party, but because of the circumstances with Life Ambulance, we have invited the Life Ambulance family to come down as well,” Carter said.
In addition to sitting on Santa’s lap and taking a picture, children were given the opportunity to sit inside of the helicopter with the assistance of Base 97 team members.
As Christmas carols filled the air, homemade baked goods and freshly-popped popcorn and other treats were provided for attendees to enjoy.
Base 97 also offered door prizes and a drawing for two large-sized stockings filled with gifts for a girl and boy.
Michael Walker, Membership Sales Manager for Base 97, said the Santa Claus visit is a great event.
“This is such a great event for the community. It allows everybody to see us and know that we are here. We are a very community-oriented company,” Walker said.
