A Portsmouth man is charged with possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree and violating his probation. Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware and Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said on Tuesday, at approximately 1:05 p.m., personnel from the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force and the Scioto County Common Pleas Court Adult Probation Department arrested Charles Peter George, 40, of 1919 Grandview Ave., in the 1400 block of 14th Street in Portsmouth.
George was, according to police, found in possession of suspected crack cocaine and then transported to his Grandview Avenue residence where officers conducted a probation search. Several packets of Suboxone sublingual film, which is most commonly used for the treatment of Opiate addiction, were found in the residence.
George was placed in the Scioto County Jail and is being held without bond.
Ware and Donini reminded area residents that anyone wishing to leave drug information for the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force can contact the Task Force tip line at 740-354-5656 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. All information will be kept confidential and anonymous.
