With the majority of the precincts in the city and county reporting, the Daily Times declaring several ballot items to have passed Tuesday evening.
The measure to alter Portsmouth City Council’s salary passed by 729 votes for, to 630 votes against.
The measure to amend the City Charter with spelling changes and clarifications passed by 792 votes for and 422 votes against.
Each City Council member that was on the ballot retained his position. Kevin W. Johnson returns to his seat in the First Ward with 211 votes for. Kevin E. Johnson of the Third Ward returns to his seat with 432 votes for and 24 write-ins. Gene Meadows of the Fifth Ward returns with 238 votes for.
As of 9:15 p.m., the Daily Times declared the Senior levy passed with 5,915 votes for 1,849 against with 53 of 77 county precincts reporting.
