In an effort to stomp out tobacco use, The SOMC Life Center is sponsoring The Raven Rock Ash Dash to be held at Saturday, Nov. 16 at Earl Thomas Conley Park, with registration to begin at 8 a.m.
Jim Kolar, manager of all three SOMC Life Center facilities, said the goal is to promote smoking cessation.
“This will be the first time that we have hosted this time of 5k event. We just want to assist in the effort to show positive, healthy alternatives to the habit of smoking,” Kolar said.
The course for Ash Dash is composed of obstacles that will challenge the participants. The course will include walls, barbed wire, pain, fire, creeks, and mud crawls. The entry fee $35 per person.
Wave Times for Ash Dash:
9 a.m. 9:20 a.m. 9:40 a.m. 10 a.m.
10:20 a.m. 10:40 a.m. 11 a.m. 11:20 a.m.
11:40 a.m. noon
The Ash Dash will not include awards for age groups. All participants will receive a finishers medal and event shirt.
Everyone is welcome, although participants under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
Live music will be provided by local musical artists The Shane Runion Band.
