Infinity Home Health Care will turn two events into a single big event on Oct. 26 from 1-4 p.m. at their location, 404 North Jackson St. in South Webster. It will be their first ever health fair and open house.
“We started it out as an open house, but we changed it to do something for the community,” Infinity Home Health Care Administrator Tiffany Slaughter said. “So instead of making it about us, we decided to make it about our community. We want to get our name out there and hopefully this might be something that we might turn into an annual event if it goes well this year.”
Slaughter said several businesses will be involved in the event.
“I just got it verified yesterday that we will be doing cholesterol checks and EKG’s,” Slaughter said. “We’ll do glucose monitoring, vital signs. Compass Community Health is coming out to do flu shots for ages 15 and up. They will need ID and their prescription card. There is no copay and the cost is $18 if you don’t have medical coverage.”
Health screenings will be provided by KDMC & ABLE Medical Transport.
“We also have other vendors that have educational information available on different programs offered to the Seniors in the community,” Slaughter said. “We’re going to have a DJ. We’re going to have food, kind of like a cookout. Pepsi even donated their low-filled sodas. We’re going to have tents. They were donated very graciously by R&R Tent rentals.”
Slaughter said all those involved with the businesses that are coming out to participate are donating their time.
Slaughter said some of the vendors will be dressing up for Halloween. And they are inviting the public to dress up too.
“We really want to make this a fun and family event and to get the community involved,” Slaughter said.
