Main Street Portsmouth will host its first Boneyfiddle Fall-O-Ween Festival on Oct. 19. The Boneyfiddle Fall-O-Ween Festival will take place in downtown Portsmouth and historic Boneyfiddle areas with 26 merchants participating.
The event begins at 3 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. Activities include Trick-or-Treat the Shops, hay rides, live music and food, games, face painting, inflatables, dog rally and agility demonstrations, Spooky Pooch Pet Parade, as well as adult, child, and pet costume contests.
Sarah Surina, Director of Main Street Portsmouth said the Trick-or-Treat the Shops will be from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., Port City Café & Pub will be the starting point where walking maps will be available. Pre-registration for the Spooky Pooch Pet Parade is $1 or $2 the day of the event. Registration and assembling for the parade will take place at Smith’s Pharmacy 745 Second Street from 4 p.m. through 5 p.m. From there the parade will proceed down Second Street where to Market Street Square.
Adult and child costume contests will be held in front of Ghost-in-the-Attic 518 Second Street from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. where first, second, and third cash prizes will be awarded.
Surina said the Boneyfiddle Fall-O-Ween Festival is an event that allows the public to rediscover the uniqueness of small businesses through fun activities. Each participating merchant will be offering some type of candy-themed product, kids activity, giveaway, or special. The Fall-O-Ween Trick-or-Treat the Shops will include merchants on Chillicothe, Market, and Second streets.
“This will be Main Street Portsmouth’s first time to put together a fall festival,” Surina said. “It’ll be a safe, fun place for the whole family to hang out, including your four-legged family member.”
