Online advertising for job availabilities has become a part of the corporate recruiting practices. Several area corporations have listed job openings online, with the latest report reflecting online advertising from July 14, 2013 through Aug. 13, 2013 for Scioto, Adams, Athens, Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Gallia, Guernsey, Harrison, Highland, Hocking, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lawrence, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Pike, Ross, Vinton and Washington counties.
During that time period, 7,400 job openings were posted including 81 ads for Genesis Health Systems, 70 for Southern Ohio Medical Center and 30 for Fluor B&W Portsmouth. Others included Lowe’s - 77, CVS Caremark - 63, AT&T - 28, H&R Block - 23, Dollar General - 23, Walmart - 20, Time Warner and Verizon with 16 each.
Entry level jobs, paying less than $30,000 a year represented 32.1 percent of the jobs advertised. Middle income jobs ($30,000-$49,000) represented 28 percent. Upper middle income jobs, those in the $40,000-$79,000 range, represented 26.4 percent of the jobs advertised, while high income jobs ($80,000-$99,000) were 8.1 percent of the jobs, and five percent of the jobs were six figure positions.
The report shows an increase of 523 ads from the previous reporting period. Compared to the same time period a year ago, it reflects an increase of 722 ads. The data is from The Conference Board, a global, not-for-profit independent business and research association.
