Alzheimer’s is gearing up for the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013. Registration will be at 8:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m. at Market Square in Portsmouth.
Amy Fecker, Special Events Coordinator at the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Cincinnati Chapter, said they are anticipating a good turn out for the 2013 Walk to End Alzheimer’s disease.
“So far 86 people have signed up for the walk, but we are expecting that number to increase a great deal,” Fecker said.
She said they are hoping to have between 300 to 400 people to participate.
“Typically, the majority of the participants register the day of the walk, so that number should grow. We are always looking for more people, the walk is open to everyone,” Fecker said.
Fecker said the Alzheimer’s Association has set goals for the amount of funds the hope to raise.
“Our goal is just over $33,725. Last year we exceeded our goal, which was over $30,000,” Feck said.
She said the organization is committed to helping families and individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.
“We, here at the Alzheimer’s Association, meet so many families that are affected by this disease that are on this long journey. We do everything that we can to help them,” Fecker said.
Fecker said the Alzheimer’s Association will continue to make a contribution to fund raising for Alzheimer’s.
“Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s continues to grow, but we want to continue to raise more money, so that we can help more people who are impacted by it,” Fecker said.
