South Shore First Church of the Nazarene will receive a visit from Joe and Cheryl Young who serve as missionaries in Asia, Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. Joe and Cheryl Young and their two children will share their experiences in the mission field.

Lee Workman, an associate pastor of South Shore First Church of the Nazarene, said the church is excited about their special guests.

”They are assigned to South East Asia, and they are home now on break. Our particular church denomination groups our churches together in districts, and we have about 60 churches in eastern Kentucky, and they are visiting those churches on a rotating basis before going back to Asia,” Workman said. “The purpose of their visit is to provide our congregation with a better understanding of what they are supporting.”

Workman said his church focuses on missionaries.

“Our church is a missionary-minded church, so part of our budgeting is to support missionaries. We have missionaries in over 150 countries,” he said.

He said the Youngs will entertain questions and answers about their service, followed by dinner to be served in the church Fellowship Hall.

Workman said it will be an opportunity for members from any church affiliation interested in missionary services to personally meet and talk with people who serving overseas.
