FLATWOODS, Ky. — Greenup County Habitat for Humanity will host the McCruise-In event Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m. at McDonald’s in Flatwoods.
Marlena Ross has served as a Greenup County Habitat for Humanity board member for 10 years.
“Our main goal is to make enough money to build our third home. It is very difficult to get started if you do not have enough funds,” Ross said. “We have had two lots in Greenup that were really promising, and we own the lots. However, getting water and sewer to them is really, really expensive. I think I was told at one time it would be $30,000 or $40,000.”
Ross said they will continue to hold fundraising events such as the McCruise-Ins to raise money for their projects.
Participants and spectators are encouraged to support their favorite team. GCHFH will provide prizes for a free cornhole tournament. A special raffle will be held that evening.
The cruise-in takes place in the Food Fair parking lot, located at 2133 Argillite Road. Participants can start registering cars, trucks, motorcycles and any other type of vehicles at 6 p.m. for a donation of $5. All makes, models and years of vehicles are welcome.
Door prizes include $25 John Clark Oil gas gift cards, with one card given away every 15 minutes from 7 to 9 p.m. for those who register a vehicle. 50/50 tickets will be sold with the drawing held at 9 p.m. Admission is free for spectators. Please contact 606-836-0421 for more information or visit their website at greenupcountyhabitat.org.
