Twelve years ago, as we went about our daily lives, the United States changed forever. As the planes hit the World Trade Center, Pentagon and crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, those around the country expressed a united front of patriotism and support for those directly and indirectly affected by the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. On Wednesday, the 12-year anniversary, those symbols were once again evident around the nation and here at home. Flags lined the downtown area in Pomeroy, hung from the Meigs County Courthouse and were flown at half staff at the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office to remember those lives forever changed.
