When most people know they are on their way to jail, they usually want to tie up some loose ends and pack a toothbrush. Not Benjamin L. Glispie. His priorities, according to police, were a little different.

Officers were dispatched to 1708 Eighth St., in Portsmouth in reference to an active warrant for Glispie, 30, of the Eighth Street address. Glispie was found to be in the residence, and when officers located him in the back of the residence, he was, according to the police report, licking an off-white substance off of a plate, telling officers he - “didn’t want to be too dope sick in jail.”

The substance subsequently field tested positive for heroin, and he was taken to the Scioto County Jail.
