Jamie Benedict, Boneyfiddle Arts Center Chairperson, said the community is invited to a retrospective art show of Kathy Kirby now at Boneyfiddle Arts Center. The show is titled “Retrospective Life Work of Kathy Kirby” (1937-2012).

Kirby studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and designed fashions for well known design firms such as Jonathan Logan, Junior Accent, Adele Martin, and R&K Originals. Kirby’s fashions were featured in numerous showrooms such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord and Taylor. Her clothing designs were featured in many publications: Glamour, Good Housekeeping, New York Times Magazine, and Mademoiselle. Benedict said Kirby’s work is currently on display through August.

Benedict said Dr. Richard Brunner has also loaned the center two original paintings by his late wife, Betty Brunner. One of the watercolor paintings received the first place best of show award by Clarence H. Carter in the first public art contest by the original Portsmouth Arts League. The two paintings are on loan to Boneyfiddle Arts Center for public display.

Benedict also is continuing to keep area residents informed about appearances by her stepdaughter, actress Marina Benedict. Benedict said Marina will be on the television show “Perception,” Tuesday (Aug. 13) on the TNT network at 10 p.m. The episode is titled “Asylum.”
