A Minford crash has resulted in injury to two people, one of injury being serious. The Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred around 2 p.m. Friday on Piketon Road near Adams Lane in Madison Township.

A 1999 Dodge Caravan, driven by Merle Smith, 36, of Waverly, was traveling south on Piketon Road when he lost control of that vehicle, traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Smith suffered serious injuries and was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center, then to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Chasity Kerns, 34, of Waverly, was a passenger in Smith’s vehicle; she suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from Southern Ohio Medical Center.

The crash still remains under investigation at this time.
