Paula Jean Butler


Paula Jean Windle Butler of McDermott, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at her residence.


She was born Sept. 9, 1948 in Portsmouth, a daughter of William Windle of West Portsmouth, and the late Lucille M. Vinson Windle.


She gave her heart to the Lord in January 1976, at the altar of United Baptist Church in Garden City, Ohio, where she was a member for 21 years and was a member of Scioto Baptist Church in Lucasville for 16 years. Paula was a homemaker, former employee of the Portsmouth Banking Company, Goodyear Atomic Corporation, the Kroger Company of Portsmouth, and a retired Portsmouth City School Treasurer with 25 years of service. She was a Shawnee State University graduate and a 1968 Portsmouth West High School graduate.


Paula is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gary Richard Butler, whom she married Oct. 12, 1968, at Bethany Baptist Church in Rushtown; a daughter, Lisa Michelle (Mike) Kitchen of Ottawa, Ohio; a son, Brett Eric (Amber) Butler of McDermott; eight grandchildren, Hayley Brooke Kitchen, Megan Aleece Kitchen, Alexis Grace Kitchen, Connor Michael Kitchen, Addison Michelle Kitchen all of Ottawa, and Kyle Eric Butler, Kory Evan Butler, and MaKenna Rose Butler of McDermott; and one brother, William Lynn Windle of West Portsmouth.


Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013 at Scioto Baptist Church on Cockrell’s Run, with Daniel Widdig officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville and an hour before the funeral Friday at the church.
