An area of Wheelersburg was without power Friday morning, after a crash took down one utility pole and damaged others. The crash occurred shortly after 7 a.m. on Center Street in Wheelersburg.

“The driver was transported to SOMC (Southern Ohio Medical Center),” Todd Miller, Chief Deputy at the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.

Miller said the vehicle was registered to Erbie Lee Steele of Franklin Furnace. SOMC verified Steele was brought to their facility where he was treated and released.

“When I talked to someone at the scene, he said there was quite the array of wires down up there,” Miller said. “He said there were five or six AEP trucks, and they were going to have to set a pole. They had Hayport Road shut down.”

AEP officials said 19 customers were without power and estimated all power would be restored by approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday evening.

Miller said the report on the incident was not available because the deputy investigating the crash had worked the midnight shift.

“He had all the information for the report, and he probably won’t turn it in until he comes in tonight (Friday),” Miller said.
