Two Portsmouth men have been arrested on charges of illegal manufacture of methamphetamine.

Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware and Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said at approximately 9:52 p.m. Friday, officers from the Portsmouth Police Department responded to the complaint of an active Methamphetamine lab at 2115 Robinson Ave. in Portsmouth. After arriving at the residence, officers obtained a consent to search the residence and discovered materials commonly found in Methamphetamine labs.

Officers from the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force were summoned to the residence to further the investigation. Task Force officers did verify the presence of meth lab – related materials and an active one pot methamphetamine cook.

Officers initially arrested 24-year-old Bryce Shover of the Robinson Avenue address and later arrested 33-year-old Shane S. McGlone of the same address, who was later found inside the residence.

Both Shover and McGlone were charged with illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony of the third degree, and illegal manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony of the second degree. McGlone also had outstanding arrest warrants on indictment for breaking and entering, a felony of the fifth degree, and failing to appear, a felony of the fourth degree, which had been issued by the Scioto County Common Pleas Court.

Shover and McGlone were arraigned on Monday in Portsmouth Municipal Court. Shover is being held in the Scioto County Jail on a $150,000 bond, while McGlone is being held without bond.

Cases against Shover and McGlone will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office to be presented to a Scioto County Grand Jury.
