The Northwest School Board met for a special meeting last week to accept the resignation of treasurer Dianna Reedy and hire John Walsh as her replacement.

Reedy previously worked as assistant treasurer at Portsmouth Schools before she accepted the treasurer’s job at Northwest just last year. Late last month she verbally informed the school district that she will be leaving Northwest to return to Portsmouth School as their new district treasurer.

At Portsmouth, Reedy will follow Kyle Smith as treasurer. Her first day at Portsmouth was reportedly Feb. 11.

The school began its search for treasurer, and on Feb. 9 the Northwest School Board met for a special meeting to formally accept Reedy’s resignation. Also during that meeting the school board passed a resolution to hire John Walsh as their new treasurer. The board also hired Andrew Riehl, from the South Central Ohio Educational Services Center in New Boston, as their interim treasurer to fill-in until Walsh begins on Feb. 25.

Walsh is currently the treasurer at Green Local School.

Green sent an announcement Friday seeking a new treasurer. Applications can be sent to the Green School Board President Sandi Cherry, at 4070 Gallia Pike, Franklin Furnace, Ohio, 45629. The fax number is 740-355-8975, and the deadline to submit applications is Tuesday, Feb. 19, at noon.
