Hattie Clausing, 85
Hattie Florence Hickman Clausing, 85, of Portsmouth, died on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at the SOMC Hospice Center.
Born on Feb. 3, 1927, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Reuben Hickman and Martha Radabaugh Hickman. Preceding her in death were her husband of 58 years, Forrest Clausing, and her son, Forrest Robert Clausing.
Hattie was a retired employee of Portsmouth City Schools where she worked from 1959-1992 as secretary to the principal at Portsmouth High School. Hattie was an avid reader, quilter, card player and crossword puzzle solver.
Survivors include her son, Michael (Sarah) Clausing, and daughter, Kathie Clausing Liles, both of Portsmouth; grandsons, Adam and Nicholas Clausing of Portsmouth and Jonathan Liles of Alexandria, Va.; granddaughters, Lauran and Jessica Clausing of Columbus and Bianca Sammons of St. Augustine, Fla.; great-grandson, Raymond Edwards, III of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Daehlers from noon until 3 p.m. Sunday and two hours before the service on Wednesday.
