Northwest opens with 41-33 win over Manchester

Northwest opened it’s season at Clay against Manchester and came away 41-33 winners.


Mohawk sophomore Drew Scarberry led all scorers with 13 points while teammate Ben LaJoye chipped in eight points and Cory Burnworth had six.


Northwest will play another contest today at the Clay Tip Off Tournament.

West 65, Green 35

West played host to Green to open the 2012-2013 season and came away 65-35 winners.

West put together a 12-point lead in the first quarter and never trailed cruising to the victory. West’s Michael Hafer led all scorers with 13 points while teammate Zach Bolton nearly matched him with 12 total points.

Justin Crace had nine points for the Bobcats in the losing effort.

West will host Dawson-Bryant Tuesday while Green will host South Webster the same evening.

Clay opened its season at home against Paint Valley but fell 55-45.

Eldin Sarajlic had a big game for the Panthers compiling 19 points while teammate Michael Schmidt had 13 points.

Clay plays tonight at home against Manchester at 6 p.m. in the second day of the Clay Tip Off Tournament.
