David Vaughn Schomburg, 69
David Vaughn Schomburg, “Jocko” 69, of West Portsmouth, died Friday Nov. 23, 2012 at his home with family and friends at his bedside. He was born Oct. 15, 1943 in Sciotoville to the late Charles August and Christine Fugitt Schomburg Sr.. David attended Portsmouth High School class of 1963, worked for Frank Tiedge and retired from General Adjusting Bureau. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 154 where he enjoyed playing golf with all his buddies at the County Club. He attended and was baptized at Dry Run Church of Christ in West Portsmouth.
David is survived by his wife Marilyn Morrow Adkins Schomburg, whom he married 35 years ago on April 23, 1977 in South Webster, his children; Elizabeth (Chris) McMichael of Flowery Branch, Ga, Eric David (Raquel Munoz) Schomburg, Vicky (Harry) Mullen, Michael (Crystal) Adkins all of West Portsmouth, grandchildren; Harry James Mullen, Abigail Adkins, Braden Adkins, Annabell Etterling and Chloe Etterling. Also surviving are a neighborhood son Jason (Nikki) Bashaw, a brother Charles August (Cheryl) Schomburg, Jr. and a sister Margaret Adams both of Portsmouth.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 27, 2012 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home West Portsmouth with Mark Seevers officiating and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
