Man Charged with 1000 counts of child pornography

James K. Raasch, 71, of Flatwoods, Ky. is currently lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center on a thousand counts of Possession of Matter Portraying Sexual Performance by a Minor.

An arrest warrant was issued for Raasch in October after the Ashland post of the Kentucky State Police (KSP) received a tip that several images of child pornography were located inside Raach’s residence on Clay Street in Flatwoods, Ky.

“During the course of the investigation several thousand images of child pornography were located at the residence and also at separate storage units rented by James K. Raasch,” according to released information by the KSP.

At the time of the discovery Raasch was residing in Clearwater, Fla., KSP contact local authorities and Raach was arrested.

On Wednesday a member of the KSP Ashland post traveled to Clearwater to extradite Raach to the Greenup County Detention Center, where he awaits charges.

According to released information the FBI and Flatwoods Police Department also responded and assisted. The investigation is ongoing by Detective Jeffrey Kelley.
