Howard Baughman III, 57
Howard Elsworth Baughman III, 57, of Portsmouth, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 22,1955, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Caroline Devine and Howard E. Baughman II, M.D.
Howard was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. He was a former salesman at Covert’s Furniture, Big Sandy Furniture, Pinkerton Tobacco and JWL Waterbeds. Along with his wife, Leah, he owned the former National Video Yearbooks. Howard was an avid bowler and played in the Men’s Atomic Employee Bowling League. He served Portsmouth for 10 years as 5th ward councilman, and also as council president. A 1973 Portsmouth High School graduate, he had attended the University of Cincinnati and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
Surviving Howard are his wife, Leah Ann Troutman Baughman, whom he married June 22, 1984, in Portsmouth; a son, Adam Kristofor Elliott of Long Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Kerri Elizabeth (Chad) Galloway of Portsmouth; a brother, David Lester Baughman of Dayton; two sisters, Sally Baughman (Dan) Gower, and Mary Caroline Baughman, all of Portsmouth; two granddaughters, Karleen Elizabeth and Caitlyn Edith Galloway; his father-in-law, Sidney Troutman of Portsmouth; many nieces and nephews; and his brothers and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. John Gowdy officiating and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services Tuesday.
