For the third time in as many years, Portsmouth’s Ali Miller was named SEOAL tennis player of the year.
The junior is joined by teammates Sarah and Allison Raies as members of this year’s all-league team. The rest of the team is comprised of players from league champion Chillicothe, including Janet Disbennett, who was named Coach of the Year.
Lastly, the Trojans also had Mazie Lawson and Molly Kammler named to the Honorable Mention list.
The Cavaliers went 5-0 in SEOAL play while Portsmouth was 3-2. Logan finished third with a mark of 3-3 and Jackson was winless in all five league matches.

Clay def. New Boston 25-16, 25-14, 25-19
Visiting Clay secured the runner-up spot in the 2012 SOC I volleyball season with a sweep of New Boston in Thursday’s action.
Kaylee Moore led the Panthers with 11 points, three of them coming via the ace. Marta Tomasi had 15 kills and Gabby Hickman chipped in with 30 assists.
Clay (18-3, 12-2) now rests until next Thursday’s Division IV Southeast Sectional Final against the winner of the Green-Manchester match.

Notre Dame def. Symmes Valley 14-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-20, 15-11
Host Notre Dame sent out its senior class on a dramatic note with a five-set marathon victory over Symmes Valley Thursday night on Senior Night.
Andrea Marchyn finished with 16 kills, Raigan Sammons had 18 points and 16 assists and Libby Welsh recorded 23 digs to lead the Titans (17-4, 10-4).
Notre Dame returns to action next Thursday as the Titans host Whiteoak in a Division IV Southeast Sectional Final. The Vikings play in a Division IV Southeast Sectional Semifinal Monday when they host Miller.

South Webster def. West 25-5, 25-12, 25-13
Host South Webster finished the regular season portion of its schedule with a sweep of West, taking the runner-up spot in the SOC II.
Full statistics were unavailable at press time. The Jeeps play at home next Thursday in a Division IV Southeast Sectional Final against the winner of the New Boston-East match.
The Senators start tournament play Tuesday in a Division III Southeast Sectional Semifinal at Northwest.

Derek Rowe assisted on both of Seth Goddard’s first half goals Thursday as host South Webster defeated Wheelersburg 2-0 on Senior Night.
Alex Dalton had four saves for the Pirates and Lance Swords stopped one shot in the victory. The Jeeps (12-2-2, 7-0-1) start postseason play Wednesday in a Division III Southeast Sectional Final at home against the winner of the New Boston-Ironton St. Joseph match. Wheelersburg plays the same night at South Point.
