The Scioto County Board of DD met in regular session, Thursday, Sept. 20 at STAR, Inc. Board President Rodney H. Barnett welcomed new superintendent James C. Krumer to his first board meeting. Mr. Krumer took office August 20, 2012. He is the former superintendent of the Southwest Ohio Developmental Center in Batavia, Ohio.
Following the approval of routine reports, the Board approved the addition of two Service and Support Administrator (SSA) positions to the Table of Organization. One SSA will be hired in the near future. The other will be hired as the need arises. The Service and Support Administration Office, which preforms service coordination among other tasks, is expecting an increased workload due to a state-level change in the oversight of the Medicaid Home Care/Transitions Waiver and other local programming changes.
Retiring instructor’s assistant JoEllen Fraley of Wheelersburg was honored with a proclamation for more than 34 years of dedicated service to children with disabilities.
The next meeting of the Board is Oct. 18 at STAR, Inc., located at 2625 Gallia Street in Portsmouth. The time of the public meeting was changed to 5:00 PM to accommodate a training session to follow that same evening.
