The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office believes that have solved a rash of burglaries with the discovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a Wheelersburg man. Arrested was Matthew L. Dawson, 34, whose last known address was in Wheelersburg.
Dawson has been charged with four counts of burglary, a felony of the second degree; one count of breaking and entering, a felony of the fifth degree, and one count of grand theft auto, a felony of the fourth degree.
Donini said his detectives were able to recover a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck in Kentucky that had just been stolen from a Wheelersburg residence. Dawson was subsequently arrested. Dawson was held on a $68,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court this morning.
Donini said more charges will be presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury on a later date. He said anyone with any information concerning the burglaries is being requested to contact Detective Jodi Conkel at the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office at 740-351-1091 . He said all calls will remain anonymous.
