Thomas Wendell Moorhead, DDS, 72
Dr. Moorhead, 72, son of the late Owen Taylor and Mary Katherine Moorhead and brother of the late Thimmes Lee Moorhead, passed away September 11, 2012 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Billie Jean Bloomfield Moorhead. He leaves five children: Michele Parish Thompson (Garr), Rebecca Parish, Heather Parish Geiger (Franz) all of Columbus, Tracey Moorhead (Neil Snyder) of Alexandria, Virginia, and Jeff Moorhead (Shannon) of Waverly. He will be missed by his thirteen grandchildren: Nicholas and Jordan Lanno, Grace and Gunnar Geiger, Andrew Pratt, Ava, Jackson and Ruby Snyder, and Alexandra, Shannen, Valerie, Rylee and Owen Moorhead.
Dr. Moorhead was a third-generation dentist in Sciotoville, OH. His father, Owen Taylor Moorhead, and his grandfather, Simeon Erastus Moorhead, both practiced in Sciotoville. He retired from practice in 2010 after 47 years. He was a graduate of Portsmouth East High School and The Ohio State University School of Dentistry and was a life-long OSU Buckeyes fan.
The family plans a memorial service at the Scioto County Welcome Center, 342 Second Street, Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend and encouraged to wear OSU colors.
