Seven injured in Ohio 104 crash

Seven people have been injured in a head-on crash on Ohio 104.

According to the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Cavalier operated by Earl Isaac, Jr., age 31, of West Portsmouth, was northbound on Ohio 104. The vehicle attempted to pass a semi-tractor trailer rig and struck a southbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by Brian Howard, age 42, of West Portsmouth.

Injured in the Isaac vehicle were Tiffany Pontius, age 22, of West Portsmouth and Jeffrey Pontius, age 53, of Waverly. Isaac, Tiffany Pontius and Jeffrey Pontius were all airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

Injured in the Howard vehicle were Jillian Cunningham, age 15, of West Portsmouth; Emily Howard, age 11, of West Portsmouth and Tyler Howard, age 15, of West Portsmouth. All three were transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center. SOMC officials were unable to locate Brian Howard in their system, but reported Jillian Cunningham and Emily Howard were both transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, while Tyler Howard was discharged.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred around 10:20 p.m. Monday.
