The Ohio State Highway Patrol will again this year have a presence all week long at the Scioto County Fair from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. every day.

“They’ll be talking about ATV safety and driving with seat belts and more,” Portsmouth Post Commander Lt. Karla Taulbee said. “On Wednesday we will have a criminal patrol unit out there, and he will be there to talk about drug interdiction, and what the public can look for. And we’ll have someone out there for eight hours on Saturday.”

Taulbee said there will be a commercial unit today (Tuesday) and Friday to talk about commercial vehicle safety.

“We will have a recruiter there on Thursday,” Taulbee said. “If anybody is interested in joining the Ohio State Highway Patrol, he will be out there answering questions about how people can apply to the academy.”

Taulbee said there will also be a drug tip box at their building.

“We did that last year and it went well,” Taulbee said. “Those who want to be anonymous about drug dealing that they know of can do so.”

The OSHP building is located behind the main gate at the fairgrounds.
