A fatal crash on July 26 has now claimed a second life. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Kathy L. Beesler, age 60, of South Webster, has died at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Kathy Beesler was a passenger in a crash that killed her husband, Christopher E. Beesler, age 61.
In that crash on July 26, a 2009 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Christopher Beesler, was traveling eastbound on Ohio 140, slid off the right side of the rain-soaked roadway and struck a tree. Christopher Beesler was pronounced deceased at the scene. Kathy L. Beesler was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center, and then transported to Grant Medical Center where she died. According to the OSHP, Kathy Beesler was sitting in the rear seat and was not wearing her safety belt.
Jason C. Beesler, age 28, also of South Webster, was also a passenger in the vehicle and he too was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center.
The latest death brings to five people who have died as the result of July crashes.
“People need to slow down, especially on wet roadways,” Portsmouth Post Commander Lt. Karla Taulbee said.
