In a special meeting of the Scioto County Board of Developmental Disabilities (SCBDD) on Monday, the Board hired James Krumer as its new superintendent.
Krumer currently serves as the superintendent and CEO for the State of Ohio Southwest Developmental Center.
“Scioto County provides excellent services and I think their reputation is outstanding,” Krumer said. “I am excited about the opportunity to continue things that have been going well and the opportunity to develop some new services.”
Former SCBDD supernatant Ben Hollinger announced his resignation in April. Hollinger has accepted the position of Assistant Deputy Director for the Division of Policy and Strategic Direction with the Ohio Department of Development Disabilities (DODD). In May, the SCBDD named Randy Beach as interim superintendent.
Rodney Barnett, chairman of the SCBDD said Krumer will start work with the District Aug. 20.
“We were very pleased with Mr. Krumer’s 20 plus years of experience in human services. Specifically his 16 years in the DD program. Also the fact that in his last job he was responsible for 240 employees with a budget of around $20 million a year. We thought his background was pretty impressive,” Barnett said.
“With that we hope he will be able to continue our quality services that’s being provided and will be able to expand them.”
